More activities in NY to commemorate the centennial of Xavier Montsalvatge inside the "Montsalvatge days" have done last November.
"La casa flotante" ("The floating house") is a puppet show for kids produced by the theater company "La Maquiné". Its central plot is "L'arca de Noè", 1990 ("Noah's Ark") by Montsalvatge. It has also some of the most renowned music pieces by Claude Debussy.
On November 8th the events will include a conference & concert carried out by Jordi Codina and the students of Madó Rocamora. On November 9th the cultural space will screen the latest documentary about Montsalvatge "Half violin, an armchair, and a piano".

ESMUC library will exhibit some material about Montsalvatge until the 11th of October.
On September 27 there will be a ceremony at Instituto Cervantes of NY and the day after , on 28th there will be a concert at the Morgan Library with the "Perspective Ensemble" and Angel Gil-Ordoñez as a conductor. Benet Casablancas pays tribute to Montsalvatge.

Highlights on September 13th and 14th with the opening of the exhibition "Xavier Montsalvatge Composer. 1912-2012" and the screening of the documentary "Half violin, an armchair, and a piano".
The BBC Philharmonic and Juanjo Mena (conductor) released a new album that includes: Partita 1958, The Five Black Songs, "Calidoscopi Simfonic" Op.61, and Requiem Symphony.
Concerto Libero is an unfinished work for cello and orchestra dedicated to the great performer Gaspar Cassadó. The premiere is on August 20th.
The Cadaqués Orchestra, plays "tres reflexos sobre una pastoral d´hivern" in the centennial acts scheduled within the International Music Festival of Cadaqués on August 19.
The basque pianist plays "siciliana", a piano piece that Montsalvatge composed paying tribute to him.
Critical acclaim to the new show "La casa flotante" which features Montsalvatge's music.
The show, based in Montsalvatge's music, is a coproduction between the festival, the company and the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona.
The exhibition can be visited until September 2nd in Girona. Later it will be moved to Madrid (September-October) and New York (November-December).
The piece, which is Casablanca's tribute to Xavier Montsalvatge, was performed last july 3 by the pianist Daniel Ligorio with remarkable success at the Biblioteca of Catalunya.
The exhibition will tour the cities of Barcelona, Girona, Madrid and New York and intends to spread the musician's multi-sided personalities.
The professors of the Master Classes, which will take place at the Academia Marshall in Barcelona, will be Cindie Sanner, Marisa Martins, Rosa Mateu, Enric Martínez, and Mac McClure.

The performances, casted by Rosa Mateu, Antoni Comas and Camilo Mendoza, will take place at the León de Grieff Auditorium under Miquel Ortega's baton.
Paloma O'Shea, president of the Isaac Albéniz Foundation, announced the program at a press conference about the Santander musical summer.
The concert will take place at the Music School of this Swiss city.

Albert Guinovart, Ala Voronkova and Rosa Mateu performed music of the composer.

The canarian singer performed Xavier Montsalvatge’s songs with one of the great specialists in the catalan composer’s work: the american pianist Mac McClure.
The Valencian composer obtains the XXII Prize for Young Composers organized by SGAE/Fundación Autor and Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical, which, from this edition onwards, will take the name of the Catalan composer.
The harpist Xavier de Maistre, soloist of the Vienna Philharmonic, will collaborate with the conductor Gianandrea Noseda in the harp concerto, one of the most ambitious works by Xavier Montsalvatge.
This emblematic work, based on Joan Maragall's poem, will be performed from the next 30th September.
Sinfonietta-concerto, first performed in 2001, is the last of the great works for soloist and orchestra, written by Xavier Montsalvatge.
The second volume in this series has now been released. Jordi Masó performs works by Montsalvatge, together with the Orquestra de Cambra de Granollers under the direction of Francesc Guillén. Also recently announced has been the recording of a further volume in the Naxos series, due to feature Montsalvatge's works for two pianos.
Along with Mozart, Brahms and Wagner, Montsalvatge's music will be given special promience by the OBC from Barcelona during its 2011-12 season.
This competition - called the Concurso Permanente - is organized by Juventudes Musicales de España amd focused on this occasion on the categories of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion. The competition took place this time in Valladolid. Since 2002, the event's name has carried the subtitle "Certamen Xavier Montsalvatge", in honour of the composer.
