"The composer used a quote from Orgy, the third of the famous Danzas Fantásticas (1919) by the Sevillian composer, to open and close his work. Although Montsalvatge often uses Andalusian rhythmic inflections in Alegoría, the work is far from the painterly style that characterised Turina's music: the dissonant harmonies, the hints of polytonality and the sarcastic and uninhibited character of the music are pure Montsalvatge."
