Comments

"The beginning of his Sonatine contains a joyful diatonic melody that the composer's daughter, Yvette, used to sing as a child. But the chromatic and changing background soon gains protagonism. The simple and melancholy first subject of the "moderato" is also adorned with notes of an exotic character and punctuated with curious chords and its more agitated second theme becomes more scathing by adding a major seventh to each note of the melody. At the end, a brilliant "toccata" introduces the most famous and universal of all nursery rhymes."
