"Like Isaac Albéniz in his El Albaizín from Iberia, Montsalvatge sought to internalize the sensations produced by the environment, the symphony of voices and resonances from the ringing of bells and the group of children playing in the squares. Then came the problem of the central instrument: the bittersweet harpsichord, with a shy and spiky voice. The author came out triumphant from the challenge of finding for his Concerto not only his own nuances, but an originality that places him among the best achievements for the combination of harpsichord and orchestra."
