"The work is an example of Montsalvatge's periodic interest in getting on the train of contemporaneity and shows the specular structure that the title suggests. It reaches a culmination and returns to the initial beat repeating the same elements. It uses the technique of old polyphony, incorporates the piano, there are clusters and glissandi and it alternates solos, blocks and orchestral tutti. As described by the composer, it presents a dodecaphonic series and different random nuclei - in theory, determined by chance - in a planned process leading to the central timbral climax."
