"In the new context, the purpose is to create a restructuring of the famous Ciaccona from the second Partita in D minor, prior to a harmonic, tonal and dynamic dismemberment in the search for unexplored sound images, always derived from its substrate. It is not therefore a matter of variations, neither of a simple orchestration of the original for solo violin, but of penetrating into the living and current mystery that seems to reside in all of Bach's music confined to classical matters. The performance begins with the first chords of the Chacona in its original harmony and from there begins a progressive distancing from the whole ensemble until obtaining a total disintegration, to return, in the last measures, to the genuine reality of the score."
Xavier Montsalvatge, 1994.
"If the concept or idea -which is a fervent tribute to Bach- is original, its materialization, both from an architectural and orchestral point of view, of a deep essentialism, points to the accession and subsequent assimilation of the most recent aesthetic conquests in the spiritual heritage of our composer."
Manuel Valls.
