Comments
"Despite not having any resemblance with his more mature works, Simfonía Mediterránea turns out to be a pleasing and delicious composition. This immediatly perceptible difference to other posterior works, is explained by the use of a somewhat traditional harmonic scheme. Montsalvatge also incorporates in this score melodies of folkloric nature. The result was that in the times of its conception, Simfonía Mediterránea did not possess any of the "modernist" tendencies that were so appreciated by the critics of the time."
Douglas Riva, 1999.
