Comments
"This work, written in the fifties, is inspired by the type of short fanfares traditionally played by municipal musicians in the towers of churches in the Germanic cultural sphere (Turmmusik). The idea came to me after a visit to the Prague Cathedral, where trumpets are usually played for two minutes at midday to announce something. The dedication to Picasso, on the other hand, is the result of the perennial admiration I have for this artist, whom I consider to be for painting what Stravinsky is for music."
